Project Overview
When designing the new WesTrac Corporate Offices in Perth, T&Z Architects sought a ceiling solution that would deliver acoustic performance, architectural impact, and long-term flexibility across two large void spaces within the workplace.
Working alongside contractor Ace Industrial, the design team required a suspended acoustic ceiling system that could accommodate potential future modifications, including the installation of a glass lift, while maintaining a clean and contemporary aesthetic.
The Acoustic Design Challenge
Located close to Perth Airport, the office environment required effective acoustic treatment to minimise external noise and create a comfortable workplace for employees.
The architects also required guidance on fixing methods and the integration of downlights within the ceiling design. While the preference was to avoid ceiling fixings, project requirements ultimately called for a suspended system.
Zintra Mesh Baffles Random Solution
After evaluating several options, Zintra Mesh Baffles Random was selected as the ideal solution. The system delivered the acoustic performance, visual impact and flexibility required for the project. Revit files provided by Baresque helped the design team accurately present the concept to the client, while a custom powder-coated finish was developed to match WesTrac's corporate branding.
Baresque also worked closely with the project team to recommend optimal baffle placement, supporting both acoustic performance and design intent.
Project Outcome
Although one of the proposed void installations was removed due to budget considerations, the completed installation successfully achieved the project's acoustic and aesthetic objectives.
The result is a striking suspended ceiling feature that enhances workplace acoustics, integrates seamlessly with lighting services and remains adaptable for future building upgrades.
