Large sports halls can be challenging acoustic environments. Hard surfaces, high ceilings and large volumes allow sound to build quickly, affecting speech clarity and overall comfort for students, teachers and spectators.
For this school sports hall in France, CCPA, led by designer Nicolas Michelin, used Zintra acoustic solutions to introduce effective sound absorption across both the ceiling and walls. CCPA was responsible for the acoustic calculation, design and installation.
24mm Zintra Baffles in Frost and Sky were suspended overhead, introducing acoustic absorption into the large ceiling volume while bringing subtle colour and rhythm to the space. Zintra wall panels, installed on standoffs, extended the acoustic treatment across the vertical surfaces.
The impact was measurable. Reverberation time was reduced from 3.64 seconds before installation to 1.08 seconds after installation, demonstrating the difference considered acoustic treatment can make within a large education environment.
The result balances acoustic performance with architectural expression, showing how Zintra can be integrated across multiple surfaces to help create more comfortable, functional spaces.
