The recent renovation of the Lebanon Opera House, a 1920s landmark in New Hampshire, demonstrates how heritage design can seamlessly meet high-performance innovation, creating an acoustic environment tailored for contemporary performance.
In collaboration with MDC, and designers Lauren McGuire and Genella McDonald from Stibler Associates, the project breathed new life into the Opera House while honouring its Art Deco roots.
Across walls and ceilings, Zintra acoustic panels were carefully specified to deliver exceptional sound control without compromising the building’s historic character. Key design features include:
- Custom digitally printed Zintra panels that reference the Opera House’s original arches and decorative motifs, allowing acoustic surfaces to double as visual storytelling.
- A dramatic sound-absorbing ceiling medallion in the vestibule, anchoring the design and enhancing acoustic comfort in a high-volume space.
Together, these elements create a cohesive design narrative throughout the venue - a unified language of sound and sight, where heritage becomes a living part of the performance experience.
