Custom acoustic solutions for a new cultural destination
The redevelopment of Burnie Arts Centre has transformed the former Civic Centre into a vibrant cultural hub, bringing together visual arts, performance and community spaces under one roof. Designed by X Squared Architects and delivered by UCI Hobart (now Being Studio), the project called for acoustic solutions that would enhance both the experience and architectural identity of the space.

Baresque supplied a combination of Zintra Pattern Tiles in Leap, Zintra Individual Baffles and a custom Zintra ceiling system inspired by Hive Connect. The feature ceiling was engineered specifically for the project, with oversized hexagonal acoustic clouds created from flat-packed, live-hinged triangular components that could be assembled on site to achieve the architect's 1400mm-sided design.
Finished in Brick, the custom ceiling installation demonstrates how Zintra can move beyond standard product formats to realise ambitious design concepts while delivering effective acoustic performance. Together with the Leap wall tiles in Ecru and Pewter, and individual baffles, the solution helps create comfortable, welcoming spaces for exhibitions, performances and community gatherings within Burnie's new cultural centre.
